Why Choose Us

Pick a bamboo charcoal supplier on carbonisation, not on price. Ours comes from China and Japan, and bulk bamboo charcoal ships from our French stock.

Purifies naturally

Bamboo charcoal has four times more pores than hardwood charcoal, so it adsorbs chlorine and impurities fast, softening a carafe in about four hours.

Lasts for months

Reactivate by boiling every few weeks, reuse for months, then compost.

Renewable and zero waste

Bamboo grows up to a metre a day with no fertiliser, and one spent stick goes back to the soil. No plastic filter to replace.

Two origins

Chinese flat and round sticks, plus the Japanese stick that filters twice as fast, from one supplier.

Worldwide shipping

Shipped from France to water-care retailers and distributors across the globe.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between bamboo charcoal and activated charcoal?

Bamboo charcoal is charcoal made from bamboo, carbonised at high heat, with about four times more cavities than hardwood charcoal. Activated charcoal is charcoal from any source processed further to open more pores. Our sticks are high-carbon bamboo charcoal used whole for water, not a loose activated powder. Takesumi bamboo charcoal is simply the Japanese name for the same material.

How long does a bamboo charcoal stick purify water?

A stick softens a fresh carafe in about four hours, and keeps the water fresh for a few weeks per cycle. Reactivated by boiling, it works for about six months in total before you compost it.

What is the difference between Chinese and Japanese bamboo charcoal sticks?

The Chinese flat and round sticks come from Fujian, the everyday formats, treating up to 1L per filtration. The large Japanese sticks are Moso bamboo carbonised at 800 to 1200°C the way Japanese binchotan charcoal is made, wider and denser, so they filter twice as fast, up to 2.5L per filtration. Both purify the same way; the choice is the vessel you are filling.

How should bamboo charcoal sticks be stored for wholesale?

Keep them dry, in a ventilated space, away from strong odours, since charcoal adsorbs smells. Sealed cylindrical boxes or sachets protect them well for retail.

Can you supply bamboo charcoal with custom packaging?

Yes. We print your label on the cylindrical box or the sachet, in your colours, so the sticks ship under your own brand.
